Random rambling

Due to King's birthday on Saturday, I'm on replacement leave on
Monday. The morning was spent at the in-laws, spending quality time
with the wife and baby. Afternoon, I came back home. I need to get the
house sweep and mop. Have not been doing that for the past four weeks!
Ewwwwww! I know.

I'm now taking a break from the chores. Drinking a cold drink and
wanted to pen down a couple of thoughts.

First one is about house. Last month I had a visitor from America. He
made two observations that was interesting to me. He said that houses
in US has centralized a/c and heater. That means even if you are in
the living room, your bedroom, toilet, kitchen are all cooled by the a/
c. He thinks it's a waste of energy and money but that is how houses
are designed in the States. These are rules by the government. My
friend said that the expense is therefore very high and that's how it
is in the States. You may earn a lot but you spent a lot. That's what
makes the economy thrives.

He also observed that our houses are built with concrete and this last
for many years whereas houses in States are made of wood. Typically
people renovate their own homes every 10 to 15 years due to the
woodbase construction. And that's how it is also which again shows how
much people continue to spend in the States.

This is the first time I heard of this and it's pretty interesting to
me.

  1. 10 years ago when Asia was hit by the currency crisis, anti-ringgit told us that we must spend money so that the economy will recover faster. if the US people stop spending, then it will be a world crisis, I think. The heat is powered by gas, if we could make a breakthrough in solar, then it is environmental friendly. Wooden house can be recycled, concrete cannot. Just for thoughts.
